Collin Rodgers, a local architect-craftsman, designed it with a five-bay front and a three-bay Ionic temple-form portico. Fluted columns carry a stick flower design in the capitals, and a balcony balustrade echoes the diamond-paned sidelights. Inside, a central hall holds a half-turn stair, and the parlors have sunburst mantels. A one-story dining wing was later added so the house could accommodate travelers on the stagecoach route between Griffin, Georgia, and Montgomery, Alabama. The house reflects the shift from Federal to Greek Revival style on a plantation plain plan and is one of four known Rodgers designs. It has remained in the Boddie family and was restored in 1963-4 with minor changes. The nominated 210 acres are part of Van Boddie's 1828 holdings and include a family cemetery.","period_of_significance":"1800-1899","architect_builder":"Collin Rodgers","architectural_style":"Transitional Federal / Greek Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Occupied private residence in good condition; restored in 1963-4 with only minor changes.
