It is also important to local history through its builder, a prominent county citizen, and as the only surviving building of the dead town of Jacksonborough.","narrative":"Built in 1815 by Seaborn Goodall in the town of Jacksonborough, north of Sylvania, this two-story frame house follows the plantation plain form: a pitched roof, two exterior end brick chimneys, a one-story shed porch, a two-over-two room plan and a rear shed wing. Inside, the rooms have wainscoting, plaster trim and Federal style mantelpieces, and the upstairs wainscot is painted to give a three-dimensional illusion. Goodall was a mason, an early Methodist, and Clerk of the Superior Court of Screven County from 1816 to 1836. According to the account given, he sheltered the preacher Lorenzo Dow from a mob in 1820, and Dow then cursed the town to vanish except for this house. Jacksonborough, founded in 1797 as the county seat, faded away, and the house remains. It was occupied until 1966, when a Daughters of the American Revolution chapter bought it for use as a meeting place and museum.","period_of_significance":"1800-1899","architect_builder":"Seaborn Goodall","architectural_style":"Plantation plain with Federal details","criteria":[],"status_note":"Occupied, in good condition; used as a meeting place and museum by the Brier Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which bought it in 1966.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:41.310047-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_GA/77000443.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/77000443/a0e6aa3b3d-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/77000443/a0e6aa3b3d-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Jud McCranie","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Seaborn_Goodall_House,_Screven_County,_GA,_US.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Jud McCranie</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Seaborn_Goodall_House,_Screven_County,_GA,_US.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/93209437","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seaborn_Goodall_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q43080504"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/georgia/screven-county/goodall-seaborn-house-77000443/"}
