At some point in the nineteenth century it gained a second story. The structure is rectangular, clad in clapboard, and rests on a stone foundation, with a flat roof, overhanging eaves and a bracketed cornice. Its most distinctive feature is a two-story porch on the front, where the lower columns are decoratively carved and the upper square columns carry curved wooden brackets and a railing of lace-like cutout panels. Records about its early postal function are scarce, but the first postmaster is known to have been a man named De Serisy. The building matters as one of the oldest surviving structures in College Hill and as a well-preserved example of early Italianate cottage design. It remains in use as a private residence.","period_of_significance":"1800-1899","architect_builder":"unknown","architectural_style":"Early Italianate cottage (Italianate elements)","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as in good condition, altered, and occupied; currently used as a private residence.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:09.258079-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/76001437.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/76001437/b2a4cb2cb7-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/76001437/b2a4cb2cb7-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Old_College_Hill_Post_Office_in_Cincinnati.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Old_College_Hill_Post_Office_in_Cincinnati.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71988923","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_College_Hill_Post_Office","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7083717"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/hamilton-county/old-college-hill-post-office-76001437/"}
