Its Second Renaissance Revival design expresses the security and stability of the financial system. It was also designed to harmonize with the Beaux-Arts Classicism of Burnham's Group Plan and the Cleveland Mall.","narrative":"Rising ten stories at East 6th Street and Superior Avenue in Cleveland, this bank building was erected in 1922-1923 as headquarters of the Fourth Federal Reserve District. Walker and Weeks, a Cleveland firm active from 1911 to 1949, designed it in the Second Renaissance Revival style. Georgia marble covers the upper stories, while soft pink granite clads the rusticated ground story, which has semi-circular arches, bronze doors and sculptured figures representing Integrity and Security. A seated bronze figure called Energy marks the south entrance. Inside, the main halls have vaulted, coffered and gilded ceilings, a low dome, Siena marble walls and black wrought-iron screens. The building faces the southeast corner of the Cleveland Mall, developed from Daniel Burnham's 1903 Group Plan, and its classical design was meant to harmonize with that civic center. Its importance rests on its expressive architectural design and its relationship to the Group Plan.","period_of_significance":"1922-1923","architect_builder":"Walker and Weeks","architectural_style":"Second Renaissance Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed in excellent condition, on its original site, occupied and still in use as a Federal Reserve bank.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:10.153096-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/76001392.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/76001392/90c21404ef-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/76001392/90c21404ef-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Christopher L.
