It is also unusually well documented by surviving plans, contracts, bills and letters in the Western Reserve Historical Society archives.","narrative":"Built in 1837-1838 on Park West Road in North Bloomfield, this two-story frame house was planned by Ephraim Brown, who moved from New Hampshire to the Western Reserve in 1815 and founded the town. Brown intended to sell his earlier house, Brownwood, but the financial depression of 1837 prevented it, so the family did not occupy the new house until after his daughter Mary married Joseph K. Wing in 1842 and Brown died in 1845. Her descendants lived there until 1927. The Greek Revival main block measures 34 by 44 feet, with a door surround drawn from Asher Benjamin's Practical House Carpenter, a pedimented entablature, and a Venetian-style window above the entrance. Its most unusual feature is a central hall about 10 by 32 feet with no stairwell. Brown's site plan, floor plans, the builders' contract, bills and letters survive at the Western Reserve Historical Society, making the house unusually well documented.","period_of_significance":"19th Century (1837-1838)","architect_builder":"Contract between Ephraim Brown and Noble Ferry and Samuel White; design drawn up by Ephraim Brown (site plan and floor plans)","architectural_style":"Greek Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Occupied as a private residence; condition marked as altered, on its original site.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:10.408472-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/75001546.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/75001546/6e90bc0eb5-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/75001546/6e90bc0eb5-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Brown-Wing_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Brown-Wing_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71991709","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q138749505"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/trumbull-county/brown-wing-house-75001546/"}
