It rises two and a half stories on a roughly rectangular plan, with a full-height, semi-hexagonal bay at the center of the front facade and a double-doored entry beside it. Tall double-hung windows have stone sills, and the windows and entrance carry elaborate carved stone lintels. Bracketed eaves support the cornice beneath a hip roof. The house was built for Liberty Whitcomb Haskins, born in Waterville in 1845, a businessman, merchant and farmer. His father, Whitcomb Haskins, was among the town's earliest settlers, and Haskins married the daughter of another early settler, John Pray, in 1868. The house was listed for its architecture and its association with this family. At the time of nomination the owners were restoring it, including plans to rebuild the original entrance porch.","period_of_significance":"19th Century; specific date ca. 1868","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Vernacular Eclectic (Victorian)","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed in good condition, altered, on its original site, used as a private residence and occupied; the owners were restoring it at the time of nomination.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:10.101164-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/75001475.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/75001475/d8276b4ff7-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/75001475/d8276b4ff7-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Liberty_Whitcomb_Haskins_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Liberty_Whitcomb_Haskins_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71989897","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q138558308"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/lucas-county/haskins-liberty-whitcomb-house-75001475/"}
