It is also an early surviving farm owned by only two families in about 150 years, and it is tied to David Abbott, an early settler and public figure, and to Homer Page, who married a sister of Thomas Edison.","narrative":"This farmhouse on Mason Road, northeast of Milan in Erie County, Ohio, was finished in 1824 and blends Federal and Greek Revival design. It has a modified T-shape with a gable roof, a central south-facing gable, side gables and a rear kitchen ell, with narrow lapped siding and six-over-six windows. A porch that once ran across the front was enclosed in the 1920s, and plain Doric columns remain. Inside, a curving stairway with a cherry handrail rises from the central hall. David Abbott, an early settler who purchased 1,800 acres and held many public offices, began the house around 1820 and died before it was done. His son Benjamin completed it. Homer Page bought the farm in 1861, and the Page family has held it since. Page was a wealthy farmer whose wife, Marion Edison, was a sister of Thomas Edison. The property is notable for its architecture and for being owned by only two families.","period_of_significance":"19th Century (1824; altered 1920)","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Late Federal-Greek Revival transitional","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as in good condition, altered, on its original site, and used as a private residence.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:08.922759-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/75001383.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/75001383/86ee3271b2-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/75001383/86ee3271b2-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Steckel Photographers","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Abbott-Page_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Steckel Photographers</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Abbott-Page_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71988136","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbott%E2%80%93Page_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4664351"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/erie-county/abbott-page-house-75001383/"}
