Because of later alterations, its significance is historical rather than architectural, tied to the earliest settlers and namesakes of the township.","narrative":"Built in 1817 by Moses Warren, this two-story frame house at 3535 Ingleside Road was the first frame house in Warrensville Township and is the oldest surviving house in what is now Shaker Heights. It measures 26 by 32 feet and shows some late Colonial features, including a five-bay north facade with a central entrance. Inside, exposed log joists, a sandstone foundation, original rafters, a mahogany newel post and several four-panel doors remain. Remodeling around 1900 and again in 1946 changed windows, chimneys, dormers, entrances and room layouts, so its importance is historical rather than architectural. Warren, a Revolutionary War veteran born in 1760, joined his son Daniel, the township's first permanent settler, and both served as township officers. The house stayed in the Warren family until 1868. Its age and ties to the earliest settlers who named Warrensville led to its listing.","period_of_significance":"19th Century (specific date 1817)","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Late Colonial features","criteria":[],"status_note":"Condition listed as excellent; original site; occupied private residence, remodeled around 1900 and in 1946.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:10.153981-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/74001462.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/74001462/ba7cd74ba1-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/74001462/ba7cd74ba1-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 1.0","author":"Christopher Busta-Peck","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MosesWarrenHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Christopher Busta-Peck</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/1.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 1.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MosesWarrenHouse.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"84003882","name":"Shaker Village Historic District","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/ohio/shaker-village-historic-district-84003882/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71987775","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q137734730"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/cuyahoga-county/warren-moses-house-74001462/"}
