Hull and now used as the Hancock Historical Museum.","why_significant":"The nomination presents the house as a typical, largely unaltered Victorian residence from Findlay's natural gas boom era, on one of the first streets to host gas boom mansions. It is also tied to Jasper G. Hull, a banker and gas company owner who took part in the boom that made the city famous.","narrative":"This 17-room Victorian house at 422 West Sandusky Street in Findlay was built in the early 1880s for Jasper G. Hull, a banker and part owner of the Findlay Artificial Gas Light Company. West Sandusky was one of the first streets in the city to see mansions of the natural gas boom era. The house has a split-face stone foundation, locally made red brick walls, a hipped roof with broad bracketed eaves, and arched windows with keystones. A broad porch with Roman Doric-style columns wraps the south and east sides. Inside are high ceilings, ash and oak woodwork, and a circular stair in the entrance hall. Later owners included horticulturist Henry Flater, the Porcelain Products Company, and the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which used it as a conference office. The Hancock Historical Museum acquired it after the 1970 church merger and opened it to the public in 1972. Both exterior and interior remain virtually unchanged.","period_of_significance":"19th Century; circa 1880","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Victorian","criteria":[],"status_note":"Owned by the Hancock Historical Museum Association and opened as a county museum in 1972; condition listed as good, with exterior and interior virtually unchanged from original construction.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:10.182252-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/73001476.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/73001476/7dae78b846-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/73001476/7dae78b846-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"User:Pepsi2786","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Jasper_G._Hull_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Pepsi2786</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Jasper_G._Hull_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71989287","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q138358940"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/hancock-county/hull-jasper-g-house-73001476/"}
