McMillan Street in Cincinnati's East Walnut Hills was reportedly built in 1860 by Bernard H. Moormann, a successful nineteenth century dry goods merchant. Designed in the Italianate style, it is rectangular in plan with a rear ell at the west corner. The five bay front facade has round arch door and window openings with plain hood molds on the ground floor, and rectangular windows with molded lintels above. A one bay porch on clustered columns shelters the main doorway, and paired brackets support the eave of the hipped roof. East Walnut Hills was an elegant residential suburb during the nineteenth century, and the house is regarded as a notable example of mid-nineteenth century Cincinnati suburban architecture. Largely unaltered and in excellent condition, it is one of several fine Italianate houses that remain in its general area. It was recognized primarily for its architecture at the local level of significance.","period_of_significance":"19th Century (ca. 1860)","architect_builder":"Bernard H.
