For years it was the only public building in town, so it hosted town meetings, dances, potluck suppers and church services. The American Legion bought it in 1925, and in 1927 the newly incorporated city of Tujunga purchased it for use as a city hall. It continued in that role after Tujunga joined the city of Los Angeles in 1932, until a new municipal building opened in 1957 and the hall was left empty. The stone came from the site or nearby hills. Later additions include a two-cell jail at the rear and a tiled roof on the bell tower. The hall is Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Landmark No. 2 and was recorded by the Historic American Buildings Survey for the Library of Congress. It sits in a small park.","period_of_significance":"1913-date (20th Century)","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":null,"criteria":[],"status_note":"Condition listed as deteriorated and altered; unoccupied since 1957 when a new municipal building opened.
