The style rarely drew Texans away from Greek Revival, and usually appeared late and only as bracketed eaves and porch ornament. The asymmetric campanile-type tower and arched windows are therefore unusual.","narrative":"This two-story frame house at 1220 Austin Street in Georgetown, Texas, was built around 1880 in the Italianate style. It is square in plan, with a low hip roof, wide bracketed eaves with closely spaced modillions, segmentally arched windows with arched shutters, a two-story bay on the west side, and an off-center campanile-type tower. The tower's top stage has arcaded windows treated as a belvedere, and iron cresting and a weathervane finial crown it. Clarence Dilley, a lumberman, bought the one-acre lot in 1879 and built the house of white cypress from Louisiana for his bride. After she died he left Georgetown, and John Tinnen bought the house in 1883. It was then reportedly vacant for about twenty-five years. The house was listed because few true frame Italianate residences survive in Texas, where the style arrived late and was usually limited to bracketed eaves and porch ornament. The porch columns are later additions.","period_of_significance":"19th Century (specific date 1880)","architect_builder":"Clarence Dilley (built the house)","architectural_style":"Italianate","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as in good condition, altered, on its original site, and occupied as a private residence at the time of nomination; the house was reportedly left vacant for twenty-five years after 1883 and later replumbed and rewired by its owners.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:19.19031-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/90/9739/40973990/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/70000776.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/70000776/6e3a3f0b43-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/70000776/6e3a3f0b43-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Renelibrary","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TinnenHouse1.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Renelibrary</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TinnenHouse1.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"86000991","name":"Belford Historic District","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/texas/belford-historic-district-86000991/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40973990","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110000504"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/williamson-county/tinnen-house-70000776/"}
