It was built for Hardy Bryan, an early Thomasville settler and Trustee of Thomasville Academy. Its significance is listed under architecture.","narrative":"Built around 1833 for Hardy Bryan, an early settler of Thomasville and a Trustee of Thomasville Academy, this two-and-one-half-story house at 312 North Broad Street is a Plantation Style dwelling. A classic portico with four two-story square columns marks the front, with a freestanding second-story porch. The windows are 16/16 throughout, and many keep their original glass. The front facade has flush siding and engaged corner pilasters, while the rest of the house is clapboard. A cornice with dentils and brackets runs around the building, and the gable holds a pattee cross. Inside, most of the original mantels, doors, wainscoting, paneling and a fine stairway survive. After Bryan died in 1859, the house was sold to G.M. Branner in 1865 and to Major Moses W. Linton in 1872. It was listed because it is an excellent example of an early 19th century Plantation house that retains almost all of its original detailing.","period_of_significance":"19th Century (circa 1833)","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Plantation Style with Classic portico","criteria":[],"status_note":"The 1969 form says the house recently underwent restoration and is in good condition.
