Its three distinct stages and styles over nearly 150 years reflect changing architectural taste and wider socio-economic conditions.","narrative":"Beside Route 9W at Coxsackie, the Bronck House is a Dutch Colonial farmhouse that grew in three stages between 1663 and 1792. Pieter Bronck built the first section in 1663: a small fieldstone dwelling with a steep gabled roof, casement windows and one large room on each of two floors. In 1738 Leendent Bronck added a larger brick house to the north, joined to the original by a brick passageway. In 1792 a one-and-a-half-story stone wing was added at the rear, with a noted panelled fireplace wall in its dining room. The family farmed the property until 1938, when Leonard Bronck Lampman renovated it and gave it with 16 acres to the Greene County Historical Society. Other buildings on the site include a kitchen, coach house, two barns, and small outbuildings. The house was recognized as an outstanding example of a Hudson Valley manor house evolving across nearly a century and a half. It remains in excellent condition as a museum.","period_of_significance":"1600-1699, 1700-1799","architect_builder":"Pieter Bronck (1663 stone house); Leendent Bronck (1738 brick house)","architectural_style":"Dutch Colonial (Hudson Valley)","criteria":[],"status_note":"Maintained in excellent condition and used as a museum open to the public; owned by the Greene County Historical Society.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:39.512417-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/67000012_NHL.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/67000012/1975e76e00-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/67000012/1975e76e00-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Dmadeo","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bronck-house.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Dmadeo</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bronck-house.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75315764","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronck_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4973835"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/greene-county/bronck-pieter-house-67000012/"}
