It is considered locally significant in the Laurel Park resort community.","narrative":"Built in 1912 on the southern slope of Echo Mountain in Laurel Park, this two-story log house began as a summer residence for Joseph Kirkland Singeltary, a Florida businessman. Its walls are round, saddle-notched logs with concrete chinking, under a steep cross-gable roof with exposed rafter ends, and a massive stone chimney and foundation were reused from an earlier cabin that had burned. A wraparound porch, an L-shaped plan and later kitchen, bath and breakfast nook additions reflect changes made by later owners, including the Reese and Robinson families. A 2002 addition connects by a covered walkway. The property also includes an artesian spring, a moved log springhouse, a barn built from charred logs of the 1837 cabin, a 1932 garage apartment and a 1930s granite cook hearth. Its log construction, characteristic of mountain summer homes of the period, is the basis for its recognition as an early local example of Rustic Revival architecture.","period_of_significance":"1912","architect_builder":"unknown","architectural_style":"Other: Rustic Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Still used as a single dwelling; rehabilitated and enlarged with a rear addition in 2002.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:57:54.554894-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/9/7208/47720809/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NC/10000754.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/10000754/fbed853b1d-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/10000754/fbed853b1d-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Upstateherd","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Singletary-Reese-Robinson_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Upstateherd</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Singletary-Reese-Robinson_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/47720809","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singletary-Reese-Robinson_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q21188809"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/north-carolina/henderson-county/singletary-reese-robinson-house-10000754/"}
