It is also described as a distinctive example of Colonial Revival architecture. It survives as one of the few relatively unaltered examples of its type and period in the multiple resource area, with an intact estate setting.","narrative":"Built around 1900, the John Green House is a large, rambling Colonial Revival residence on a three-acre site at 167 East Shore Road in Huntington Bay, overlooking Huntington Harbor. Originally called \"Point Siesta,\" it is a two-and-one-half story shingled dwelling with gambrel-roofed side wings, a large five-bay rear wing with a tent-roofed tower, and a wrap-around porch on paired fluted Doric columns that forms a porte-cochère on the east. Full-length windows and classically inspired details mark its style. The house is significant as a representative example of the spacious homes built for wealthy residents along Huntington's north shore between about 1880 and 1920, when the area changed from farmland to a fashionable summer and residential community. Many neighboring dwellings have been altered or lost their settings, but this house remains largely unaltered within its historic estate grounds. Little is known about its first owner, John Green.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Condition listed as excellent; described as unaltered and on its original site; no threats known; privately owned.","vacant_flag":null,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:48.526128-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/85002526.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75314755","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":null},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/rockland-county/green-john-house-100000615/"}
