It is also one of only two houses identified in North Carolina as a true Craftsman Home, built from a plan published in Gustav Stickley's The Craftsman magazine.","narrative":"Built in 1915 at 630 East Main Street in Brevard, this one-and-a-half-story stone house was built for Royal and Louise Morrow, who had moved from Sapphire so that Royal could open a civil engineering practice. The design follows House Plan No. 69, \"Craftsman Stone House,\" published in Gustav Stickley's The Craftsman magazine in 1909. The first story has load-bearing local field and river stone, the upper half story is frame with matching stone veneer, and the roof is steep and side-gabled. Inside, dark-stained woodwork, plain plaster walls, a stone living room fireplace and a central stair reflect Craftsman ideals. An engaged corner porch and an upstairs sleeping porch tie the interior to the outdoors. A matching stone garage stands nearby. The house is considered locally significant as an early example of Brevard's stone architecture and statewide significant as one of only two known true Craftsman Homes in North Carolina. It retains a high level of integrity.","period_of_significance":"1915","architect_builder":"Kilpatrick, R.
