It was designed by architect Joseph R. Pelich.","why_significant":"The nomination argues the house is an excellent local example of the Spanish Eclectic style in South Fort Worth, with its stucco walls, clay tile roofs, arched windows and embellished entrance surround. It is also significant as the work of prominent Fort Worth architect Joseph R. Pelich. It is among a small number of early 20th century two-story Spanish Eclectic houses on the Southside.","narrative":"Perched on a bluff above the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, this house at 1208 Mistletoe Drive in Fort Worth was built around 1920 and designed by local architect Joseph R. Pelich. A two-story block with one-story wings, it is clad in pale pink stucco over hollow clay tile and topped with red clay tile. Arched multi-light windows, a decorative entrance surround with twisted columns, a small balconet and an iron window grille mark it as Spanish Eclectic. Inside, wrought iron fixtures, arched niches, tiled floors and a clay kiva oven in the kitchen survive. It was built for Dr. Arvel Ponton, a physician who helped found local hospitals and a clinic, and his wife Faye. The house is considered an excellent local example of its style and a work of Pelich, and few Southside houses match its detail. Stone terrace walls from the 1930s also contribute; a 2000 garage and an arbor do not.","period_of_significance":"c. 1920 - c. 1935","architect_builder":"Pelich, Joseph R., architect; Hull Historical Restoration (2000 garage, deck and kitchen rehab)","architectural_style":"Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals: Mission/Spanish Colonial Revival (Spanish Eclectic)","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Currently in use as a single dwelling; the form says it retains a high degree of integrity with minimal alterations.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:23.285398-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/13/9734/40973413/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/06001085.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/06001085/8ec6843950-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/06001085/8ec6843950-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Renelibrary","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ponton1.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Renelibrary</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ponton1.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40973413","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110002655"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/tarrant-county/ponton-dr-arvel-and-faye-house-06001085/"}
