It displays Gothic Revival hallmarks such as a spired tower, corner buttresses and pointed-arch windows. The 1892 parish hall by local architect F. Carlos Merry complements it, and the cemetery holds burials dating to the 17th century.","narrative":"Built in 1862-63 at the corner of Huguenot and Division Streets in New Rochelle, this Gothic Revival church grew from a congregation founded by French Huguenot settlers in the late 1600s. Its walls are rough-faced gray Westchester granite trimmed with brownstone, and an asymmetrically placed tower carries a tall octagonal spire. Inside, an elaborate dark wood ceiling with open trusses covers the nave, and some windows are by Tiffany Glass and Decoration Company. The design is credited to Richard Upjohn & Co., a firm responsible for roughly 150 churches, and it is considered a fine example of that work and one of only a few the firm designed in Westchester County. A Romanesque Revival parish hall by local architect F. Carlos Merry followed in 1892. A cemetery on the grounds holds several hundred burials, the earliest dated 1688, including remains moved there when the Thruway was built in 1955.","period_of_significance":"1862-1892","architect_builder":"Upjohn, Richard, & Co.
