It was relocated beside a Heritage Orchard to avoid demolition from State Route 85 construction, and it retains its design, materials and workmanship.","narrative":"This one-story redwood farmhouse in Saratoga was built around 1896 by fruit grower Warner Hutton and reflects the Queen Anne style once common on Santa Clara Valley orchard properties. It has an L-plan, gable and hip roofs, bracketed boxed eaves, V-rustic siding and one-over-one wood windows. The gabled bay and porch carry the most decoration, including a bulls-eye window, spindle work and fan details. The house served as an orchard residence until 1983, when the state acquired the property for State Route 85. To prevent demolition, it was recorded to Historic American Buildings Survey standards and moved in 1990 to Fruitvale Avenue, beside Saratoga's Heritage Orchard, and ownership passed to the City. It is one of only two remaining Queen Anne orchard residences in Saratoga. Today the city maintains it as a public meeting place and community venue, and it retains a high degree of architectural integrity.","period_of_significance":"circa 1896","architect_builder":"Unknown (the form states it was built by Warner Hutton in 1896)","architectural_style":"Late Victorian Queen Anne","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Owned and maintained by the City of Saratoga, open to the public, and used for Youth Commission activities, community events and meetings of the Heritage Preservation Commission.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:29.780635-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_CA/06000189.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/06000189/8392bdb5e4-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/06000189/8392bdb5e4-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Elan5","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:CA-Saratoga-Warner_Hutton_House.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Elan5</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:CA-Saratoga-Warner_Hutton_House.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/123861713","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warner_Hutton_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q55757599"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/california/santa-clara-county/hutton-warner-house-06000189/"}
