It combines a mid-nineteenth century rectangular, gable-roofed form with late nineteenth century Victorian embellishment. Its early twentieth century stained-glass windows are the work of regionally known artist Harry J. Horwood, and it remains a prominent local landmark.","narrative":"Standing on a knoll at the west end of Mill Street in Lisbon, this frame church was completed in 1857 for a congregation that traces its origins to 1802 and is believed to be the first permanent religious organization in St. Lawrence County. The building is a rectangular, gable-roofed structure with timber framing, clapboard and vinyl siding, and lancet-arched stained-glass windows. In the late nineteenth century the original steeple gave way to an open belfry, and a two-story Sunday school wing was added; a Fellowship Hall followed in 1992. Inside, the sanctuary keeps Victorian pews, altar furniture, pressed metal ceilings and wainscoting, plus a gallery with sliding cherry panels. Around 1910-20, eight memorial windows by Harry J. Horwood replaced the earlier clear glass. Horwood was a regionally known glass artist who worked on many churches across the county. The church was listed for its architecture, as a well-preserved local example of religious building and a landmark in the village.","period_of_significance":"1857 - 1920","architect_builder":"unknown; windows: H.J.
