It is a local example of Queen Anne architecture, with a hipped roof, intersecting gables, an irregular plan, clapboard siding on a limestone foundation, decorative shingles, canted bays and window surrounds with rondels and dentils. Inside, the first floor has ornate moldings with carved acanthus leaves, pocket doors, stained glass, a majolica-tiled fireplace and an open staircase. Later owners included Ezra Bretz, who bought it in 1906. It was divided into two apartments in the 1940s and later served as a church parsonage before returning to single-family use. Changes have been minor, and the porch is the main exterior alteration. Its well-preserved Queen Anne character is the basis for its listing.","period_of_significance":"ca. 1895","architect_builder":"Unknown","architectural_style":"Late Victorian: Queen Anne","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Used as a single-family residence; the original front porch columns, damaged by rot, were being repaired and replaced with temporary supports.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:37.586576-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/43/8934/28893443/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_IL/05000433.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/05000433/92fcfe897d-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/05000433/92fcfe897d-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY 2.5","author":"IvoShandor","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Paw_Paw_IL_Wright_House2.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">IvoShandor</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY 2.5</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Paw_Paw_IL_Wright_House2.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/28893443","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Wright_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7610891"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/illinois/lee-county/wright-stephen-house-05000433/"}
