The farm retains its nineteenth century outbuildings and agricultural setting, and has stayed with the same family for more than seven generations, illustrating the evolution of farming in the upper Hudson Valley.","narrative":"Cornelius and Agnietje Van derzee built a two-story rubblestone farmhouse with brick gables around 1765 in Aquetuck, in the town of Coeymans. It anchors a 260-acre farm that includes eleven contributing outbuildings, among them a tenant house, a cow barn, a wagon house and a large timber-frame upper barn built in 1870 using parts of an earlier Dutch barn. Around 1834 the house was renovated in the Greek Revival style. Its walls were covered with stucco scored to imitate ashlar limestone, and a paneled, recessed entrance with sidelights and a bluestone sill was added. A frame wing on the west side was enlarged at the same time. The property is recognized for its rare, well-preserved eighteenth century domestic architecture and for its largely intact farm complex. The farm has remained with descendants of the original couple for more than two centuries, and its buildings and land are still used for agriculture.","period_of_significance":"ca.1765-ca.1944","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Mid-19th Century/Greek Revival; Colonial/Georgian","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Many outbuildings and much of the acreage remain in agricultural use; the stucco finish on the house is deteriorated and has fallen away in places.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:52.94174-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/05000259.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75316369","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornelius_and_Agnietje_Van_Derzee_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5171480"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/albany-county/van-derzee-cornelius-and-agnietje-house-05000259/"}
