Most are Ranch style houses built between 1947 and the early 1950s, plus a few later infill houses.","why_significant":"The area was left out of the original district nomination but was platted and developed in 1947 and 1951 as part of the Bryker Woods Annex. It shares the original district's significance under Criteria A and C, in Community Planning and Development and Architecture. Its modest postwar houses retain good integrity and match the adjacent contributing properties.","narrative":"This addition to the Old West Austin Historic District takes in about six blocks of the Bryker Woods neighborhood in Austin, Texas. It includes 38 properties along Funston Street, West 30th Street and Oakmont Boulevard, mostly small wood-frame Ranch style houses on pier-and-beam foundations, with exteriors of wood, shingle or asbestos siding. Most date from 1947 to 1952, with a few later houses that do not contribute. The land was part of the Bryker Woods Annex, platted in 1947 and 1951, and was left out of the original district boundaries. The houses west of Funston Street once bordered the Missouri Pacific Railroad and now back onto the MoPac highway right-of-way. The area was listed because it shares the district's significance in architecture and community planning and development. Its modest postwar homes keep their original character and match the contributing houses across the street. The period of significance was set at 1947-1953.","period_of_significance":"1947-1953","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Modern Movement: Ranch","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Current function is still single-family dwellings with garages; 21 resources are contributing and 17 are noncontributing.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:23.593346-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/95/9737/40973795/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/03001413.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/03001413/f5e9b94a10-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/03001413/f5e9b94a10-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY 4.0","author":"Larry D.
