It also cites the eclectic ca. 1906 remodelling by Norval P. Rogers, including the gambrel roof, rambling porch and center staircase, and the architecture of the ca. 1880 barn.","narrative":"Set on a level plateau above the South Ten Mile Creek valley, the Colver-Rogers Farmstead is an 11.02-acre complex in Morgan Township, Greene County. Its two-story sandstone house was begun in 1830 by Samuel Colver, whose datestone is in the west gable, and it was reworked about 1906 by Norval P. Rogers, who added a gambrel roof, a rambling porch on iron columns, and a center staircase. The stone shell keeps its original side-wing kitchen, a plan found in only a few houses in the region. The house also has unusually tall one-piece first-floor lintels, about fourteen inches high. The barn, built about 1880, is a gable-entrance bank barn with pegged framing and is regarded as a fine example of its type. The property is valued for showing how an early stone farmhouse was transformed into a larger eclectic farmhouse in the early twentieth century.","period_of_significance":"1830-ca.1930","architect_builder":"Samuel Colver (builder)","architectural_style":"Colonial Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"The farmhouse is occupied; the frame rental house and two sheds are noncontributing, and most of the farm's fields are overgrown and excluded from the nominated area.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-haiku-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.1-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 17:11:37.124596-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_PA/03001191.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/03001191/2ab074871a-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/03001191/2ab074871a-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Generic1139","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Colver-Rogers_Farmstead.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Generic1139</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Colver-Rogers_Farmstead.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71996616","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colver-Rogers_Farmstead","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5150276"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/pennsylvania/greene-county/colver-rogers-farmstead-03001191/"}
