It is also a rare regional house built of stone rather than brick. It is linked to John Teunise Van Dalfsen, the first Supervisor of the Town of Coeymans, and to the early settlement of the area.","narrative":"Built around 1769, this one and one-half story rubblestone house sits beside Hannacroix Creek near the Hudson River in Coeymans, Albany County. It has a five-bay symmetrical front facing the river, a gambrel roof, end chimneys, and a paneled Georgian split door under a cantilevered porch roof that appears original. Inside, the Georgian plan, paneling, built-in cabinetwork, corner cupboard, wide plank floors and period hardware survive. A large modern wing was added on the south side but is separated from the old house by a small hyphen. The house was probably built by Jan Jonas Bronck and Charlotte Amelia Coeymans after her father's estate was divided. Their son-in-law, John Teunise Van Dalfsen, served as the town's first Supervisor in 1817. The house is significant as a rare regional example of transitional Dutch and English design built of stone rather than brick, and as a reminder of early settlement in the area. It remains a single-family home.","period_of_significance":"ca.1769-ca.1823","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"COLONIAL/Dutch Colonial/Georgian","criteria":["B","C"],"status_note":"Still used as a single dwelling; the main block has been carefully restored, and a modern wing and a non-contributing garage have been added.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:53.309257-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/03001148.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75316203","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coeymans-Bronck_Stone_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5140862"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/albany-county/coeymans-bronck-stone-house-03001148/"}
