It is also one of the city's best preserved stone Gothic Revival houses, with fine masonry and an early transitional design that keeps Greek Revival features.","narrative":"Built in 1854 on the north side of Lockport, this two-and-one-half-story limestone house at 129 Outwater Drive was the home of Thomas Watson, an English-born stonecutter and contractor who opened a quarry on the same site. The front-gable house is built of Gasport Limestone, with a dressed ashlar front, rubble side and rear walls, pedimented lintels, splayed sills and quoined corners. Its gable carries an ogee-arch window and vergeboards with foliated scrolls. The plan, the woodwork and the six-over-six sash survive largely intact inside and out. A stone hitching post and carriage block stand along the street. The house is significant for its link to Lockport's nineteenth-century quarry industry and as the best preserved of the city's three remaining stone Gothic Revival houses. Its refined façade also displayed Watson's skill as a stonecutter. The Watson family lived in the house until 1943, and it remains a private residence.","period_of_significance":"1854-1943","architect_builder":"Thomas Watson","architectural_style":"Gothic Revival/Early Gothic Revival","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Currently in use as a single-family dwelling, as it was historically.
