It retains original features such as its wood shingle roof, turrets, cast concrete trim and interior detailing. It is not claimed to have played a significant role in Westwood's development; its importance lies in its architecture.","narrative":"Chateau Colline is a two-story apartment building set high above Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood Village, Los Angeles. Completed in 1935, it holds eight units arranged around a shaded courtyard and is designed in the Chateauesque style, loosely based on sixteenth-century French chateaus. Its steeply pitched roof still carries original wood shingles, and conical-roofed corner turrets, gabled dormers, and cast concrete trim made to resemble stone give the exterior its character. Inside, the apartments have sunken living rooms, fireplaces, oak floors, and detailed plaster work. Architect Percy Parke Lewis, who worked for the Janss Corporation and designed several Westwood buildings, produced the design. The building was constructed by A.A. Zimmerla for Mrs. L.A. Pfeiffer. It was listed for its architecture rather than for any role in local development, as an excellent and well-preserved example of a style that was rare in the Los Angeles area and was most often used for luxury apartment buildings.","period_of_significance":"1935","architect_builder":"Lewis, Percy Parke (architect); built by A.A.
