Its front-gabled Italianate form includes segmental-arched windows with wood hoods, paired paneled doors and a fieldstone foundation. A 1903 rear addition brought a kitchen, indoor plumbing, a deeper stage and second-floor anterooms, and a pressed-metal ceiling was added to the auditorium in 1904. The Masons met on the upper floor, while the first floor hosted social functions, church services and entertainment, and the Odd Fellows also met in the hall. Aluminum siding applied in the 1970s was removed in 2002, revealing original clapboard that was restored, with window and door hoods ordered for replacement. The hall is significant locally for its role in the village's social life and recreation, and its period of significance ends in 1953.","period_of_significance":"1876 - 1953","architect_builder":"Unknown","architectural_style":"Italianate","criteria":["A"],"status_note":"Described as in continuous use since 1876 as a meeting hall, theater and auditorium; 1970s siding was removed in 2002 and the original clapboard, hoods and doors were being restored.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:37.23023-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/70/8941/28894170/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_IL/03000354.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/03000354/e776ebf68a-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/03000354/e776ebf68a-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY 2.5","author":"IvoShandor","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Orangeville_Il_AF_and_AM_Lodge3.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">IvoShandor</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY 2.5</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Orangeville_Il_AF_and_AM_Lodge3.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/28894170","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AF_and_AM_Lodge_687","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4651627"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/illinois/stephenson-county/af-and-am-lodge-687-orangeville-03000354/"}
