It shows a railroad-side neighborhood developed from 1908, mostly in the early to mid-1920s, with intact Queen Anne, Four Square and bungalow houses plus an ice company building. It began as the Columbia Park subdivision in 1908 and was replatted as Lenox Park in 1917. Most of its roughly fifteen acres sit on flat, small lots, with houses along South Whitted Street set on hillsides above stone retaining walls. The district holds 43 contributing resources and 17 noncontributing ones. Housing types include Queen Anne and Four Square houses from about 1908, two-story gable-front houses, sixteen bungalows from 1919 to about 1930, and smaller cottages. Most building took place after the 1917 plat, especially in the early to mid-1920s. A 1915 brick ice and storage company building stands near the railroad. Some larger houses on Dale Street served as boarding houses for summer tourists. The district was listed for its intact collection of early twentieth-century buildings.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne, Bungalow, Other: Four Square","criteria":[],"status_note":"Houses are mostly in residential use; the former City Ice & Storage Company building is now used as a warehouse.
