Together with its barns, outbuildings and intact farm landscape, it reflects the town's development as a prosperous agrarian community and may yield information on regional agricultural practices.","narrative":"Set on six acres on the south side of Route 17K in the Town of Montgomery, this farmhouse was built around 1850 for Moses Mould, a descendant of early German Palatine settlers in the area. It is a five-bay, center-hall house with clapboard siding, a stone foundation, a broad molded cornice and frieze with partial gable returns, and classical entrances with sidelights and pilasters. A Victorian porch and a late nineteenth century east wing were added later. Inside, the center-hall plan, Greek Revival mantels, plaster walls, wood floors and a basement keeping room with its cooking fireplace survive. Behind and beside the house stand a horse barn, two sheds, a privy and a well house dating from about 1870 to 1890, set within a rural agricultural landscape. The property was listed for its architecture as a well-preserved local interpretation of the Greek Revival style and for its picture of a prosperous nineteenth century farm.","period_of_significance":"ca.1850-ca.1890","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Mid-19th Century/Greek Revival","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Historic and current functions are both single dwelling and agricultural; the interior and outbuildings are described as retaining a high degree of integrity, though the windows were replaced with modern sash in the 1990s.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:52.709817-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/02000876.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/02000876/91fca5e463-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/02000876/91fca5e463-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"The original uploader was Daniel Case at English Wikipedia.","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Moses_Mould_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">The original uploader was Daniel Case at English Wikipedia.</a>, <a href=\"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Moses_Mould_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75320702","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moses_Mould_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6915892"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/orange-county/mould-moses-house-02000876/"}
