Kenilworth in Elmhurst, DuPage County, Illinois, designed in 1901 by Frank Lloyd Wright and H. Webster Tomlinson and built in 1905 for Chicago businessman Frank B. Henderson.","why_significant":"The nomination argues the house is a good local example of Prairie School architecture under Criterion C. It shows the completeness of Wright's practice between 1901 and 1908 and brings together the features of his mature Prairie houses. It is also one of only a few houses Wright designed with his short-term partner Tomlinson.","narrative":"Standing at the corner of Kenilworth and Adelia streets in Elmhurst, Illinois, this two-story house was designed in 1901 by Frank Lloyd Wright and his short-term partner H. Webster Tomlinson and completed in 1905 for Chicago businessman Frank B. Henderson. It rests on a low concrete base and has high stucco walls with dark wood trim, a low hipped roof with deep eaves, a central chimney, art glass casement windows and an open first-floor plan. Inside, the living room, dining room and library flow together around a central hearth, and a large south terrace serves as additional living space. Four bedrooms occupy the second floor. The house was listed for its architecture as a good local example of the Prairie School and of Wright's work between 1901 and 1908. It is also one of only a few houses he designed with Tomlinson. Only minor alterations have changed the original design.","period_of_significance":"1905","architect_builder":"Wright, Frank Lloyd & Tomlinson, H.
