Corbett, along with farm outbuildings on 84 acres.","why_significant":"The farm is argued to be significant in agriculture as a small farm that keeps its original size, main house, grape arbor and many outbuildings. It is significant in architecture for its intact hall-parlor house with a rear ell, a type rarer in south Georgia. It is significant in landscape architecture as an intact 'landscape of work' or working yard.","narrative":"Corbett Farm is an 84-acre working farm in rural Echols County, near Lake Park, Georgia. Its centerpiece is a wood-frame hall-parlor house built about 1878-1879 for Bryant W. Corbett, with a rear ell holding the dining room and kitchen, which gives the house a T-shape. The house keeps its original pine doors, mantels, plank walls and floors, and it was built with mortise-and-tenon joints, wooden pegs and square nails. Around it are a wash shelter, cotton and corn house, car shelter, chicken house and pen, a brick-collared well, and a grape arbor. One later garage does not contribute. The farm was listed for its agricultural history, its intact small farmhouse, and its preserved working yard, a landscape of food production, animal care, washing, cooking and storage. The same family has owned and farmed the land since the late 1870s. Corn and peanuts were the main early crops, and some cotton was added later. The farm was named a Georgia Centennial Family Farm in 1996.","period_of_significance":"c.1878-1950","architect_builder":"James McLane","architectural_style":"Other: Hall-Parlor House","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"The farmland is still farmed by the family and the outbuildings, except the chicken house and pen, have been restored. The house is described as unoccupied.","vacant_flag":true,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:43.126727-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_GA/00001455.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/00001455/bdd47b08d8-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/00001455/bdd47b08d8-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Jud McCranie","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Corbett_farmhouse,_Echols_County,_GA,_US.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Jud McCranie</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Corbett_farmhouse,_Echols_County,_GA,_US.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/93207907","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corbett_Farm","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q29093972"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/georgia/echols-county/corbett-farm-00001455/"}
