Together the buildings, landscape and open space illustrate the architecture and land use of a small mixed-use farm in central New York from about 1825 to 1950.","narrative":"Just south of the city of Cortland, this twelve-acre farm on Page Green Road preserves a nineteenth-century farmstead built around a cobblestone house. The Federal style farmhouse, raised between 1825 and 1840, has walls of even courses of round gray cobbles with sandstone quoins, a center-hall plan and a raised basement that holds the original cooking fireplace and oven. A frame cottage from the 1850s or 1860s is attached to it. Around the houses stand a circa 1890 dairy barn moved to its present site in 1943, a milk house now used as a garage, a chicken house and a playhouse. The drive, stone-lined creek banks and an apple orchard remain as landscape features. The farm was first tied to William Randall, a banker who came to Cortland about 1812. Miles Peck added a Colonial Revival porch and dormers around 1920. The farmhouse is believed to be one of only three cobblestone buildings in Cortland County, which is the main reason for its listing.","period_of_significance":"ca. 1825-1950","architect_builder":"unknown","architectural_style":"Early Republic / Federal","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"The property and its surviving buildings are described as well maintained, and the farmhouse and cottage are in domestic use.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:51:50.926433-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/00000573.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/00000573/b3e8b88538-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/00000573/b3e8b88538-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"Jerrye & Roy Klotz, MD","credit_html":"Jerrye & Roy Klotz, MD, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:RANDALL_FARM;_CORTLAND_COUNTY.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75312437","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randall_Farm_(Cortland,_New_York)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7291536"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/cortland-county/randall-farm-00000573/"}
